As promised, the rest of our troops in Iraq will come home by the end of the year. After nearly nine years, America’s war in Iraq will be over.
— Barack Obama • Discussing his decision to completely end the war in Iraq, a war that has cost the U.S. more than $800 billion dollars and led to the death of thousands of servicemen and thousands more Iraqis. (Combat troops left last year, but thousands of support troops stayed behind.) While Obama had considered leaving a handful of troops in the country to help the Iraqis, the debate ends with this definitive statement. What do you all think? Did it take too long to make an exit? Or did we do it at the right pace? (via shortformblog)

THIS. FOREVER.

I live in Australia…
*My student loans from our government are not subject to interest, they do not increase each year and we can pay these off in manageable amounts
*Our minimum wage is the equivalent of $14 USD and our working week is limited to 38 hours by LAW
*Welfare is available to whoever needs it, we do not have to wait years to qualify
*Every citizen automatically receives health cover for life-threatening illnesses and severe and chronic pain.
- Our government and country is not in recession
- Our corporations still make an insane profit
-We are looked after
IT IS POSSIBLE
We support the 99%

To rid the world of Osama bin Laden, Anwar al-Awlaki and Moammar Qaddafi within six months: if Obama were a Republican, he’d be on Mount Rushmore by now.

Liberals Are Cool: The $1 Trillion Student Loan Rip-Off

liberalsarecool:

How an Entire Generation Was Tricked into Taking on Crushing Debt That Just Enriches Banks

Young people accepted a home mortgage worth of debt before they ever even had a regular income based on phony promises.

USA Today says that at some point this year, student loan debt will exceed $1…

Bush tax cuts cost the rest of us $11.6 million an hour. Yes, an hour.

Let us note that many of the programs blamed by the GoP for our deficit don’t cost us 11.6 million in a month…

I’m always amazed that we spend so much time criticizing black kids for attacking other black kids for not “being black enough” or for “acting white.” Meanwhile, actual adults—of all races—regularly inveigh against the blackness of one of the most popular and positive image of black manhood in a generation. It’s amazing—sort of how we hector about individual acts of homophobic bullying, seemingly oblivious to the kind of mass societal homophobic bullying which we elevate to law. Meanwhile, I hear back on the South Side they’re selling tee-shirt that read “Obama 2012,” with a print of his birth certificate underneath. I want one.

The Corporate Coup of the United States.
Some context:
Japan is the #2 economy in the world.
Germany is the #1 exporter in the world.
Although not listed, do you think China even has CEOs?
We don’t work any harder in America, we just give the richest more opportunities and tax breaks to attain and retain their wealth.

I mean, holy shit.
